Weight management can be challenging for all adolescents, but those from low-income families face added stressors that can make weight loss even more difficult.

Those are the findings of Amy Sato, Ph.D., an associate professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences, who has been studying the connection between obesity and low-income youth for more than seven years.

Traumatic injuries are the third leading cause of death nationally and the first in Americans age 44 and younger, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Level I trauma rooms are intended to stabilize and save the lives of patients with the most severe traumatic injuries. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has awarded a $2.47 million grant to Sara Bayramzadeh, a ÌÇÐÄVlogÆÆ½â°æ researcher, to help create trauma rooms that support staff in saving patients’ lives.

College Students to Compete in SkyHack Design Challenge at ÌÇÐÄVlogÆÆ½â°æ

ÌÇÐÄVlogÆÆ½â°æâ€™s aviation design challenge, SkyHack, will take place Nov. 1-3. The event draws college students from around the nation, attracting 120 students from 14 universities in four states in its 2017 inaugural debut. ÌÇÐÄVlogÆÆ½â°æâ€™s College of Aeronautics and Engineering will serve as home base for this year’s event, which will span across other Kent Campus buildings.
