When someone suffers a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or brain tumor, one of the common symptoms is aphasia, a disorder that arises from damage to portions of the brain, usually the left side, that are responsible for language. It impairs the expression and understanding of language as well as reading and writing.  ÌÇÐÄVlogÆÆ½â°æ 1 million people in the United States currently have aphasia, and nearly 180,000 Americans acquire it each year, according to the National Aphasia Association. Dr. David Dees, dean of ÌÇÐÄVlogÆÆ½â°æ at Salem, announced those students named to the Spring 2017 President’s and Dean’s lists. To qualify for the President’s List, students must have a 4.0 grade point average and must have completed 15 hours during the semester.
