The Kent City Health Department has notified 59 residents of Allyn Hall, 3rd Floor, on ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ’s Kent Campus that they must quarantine until Oct. 21 due to possible exposure to the communicable disease COVID-19.
The 59 students will remain in a separate section of Allyn Hall. Meals will be provided along with other university resources through the quarantine period. Anyone testing positive has been moved to isolation. The university will work with the students and their instructors to ensure a seamless transition to remote learning for any face-to-face courses.

Testing is being conducted for those who have symptoms and those who do not show symptoms (asymptomatic). Widespread testing is the best way to identify carriers of COVID-19, particularly those who are asymptomatic and who may unknowingly spread the virus, jeopardizing the health of others.
The ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ Board of Trustees has approved a new three-year Collective Bargaining Agreement between the university and the ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ Employees Local 153, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
For 26 years, ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ has hosted National Depression Screening Day in the month of October. National Depression Screening Day provides an opportunity for members of the university community to participate in a mental health screening and receive related information and resources for care.

The ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 11:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, which will be conducted electronically as permitted under Amended Substitute House Bill 197. The ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ Board of Trustees approved the establishment of two new schools – the School of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering – within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held June 25, 2025, on the Kent Campus.
The ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ Board of Trustees will hold its next regular business meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, in the Timothy D. Eippert Boardroom, Suite 412, at Crawford Hall on the Kent Campus.
ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ will hold its annual Veterans Day observance on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. on the Student Green at Risman Plaza.
The outdoor program, Honoring All Who Serve, will include a flag-raising ceremony conducted by a joint color guard from the university’s Army and Air Force ROTC programs, remarks from ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ President Beverly Warren and guest speakers. Retired Petty Officer 1st Class Mark Gainer, who currently serves as president of the ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ Veterans Club, will be the guest speaker.
All are invited to come and pay tribute to America’s veterans. A special invitation is extended to ÌÇÐÄVlogÆƽâ°æ faculty, staff, students and community members who are veterans, active service members or who have family members in the military.
A reception in the Kent Student Center Kiva lobby will follow the brief program. In the event of inclement weather, the rain location will be the Kent Student Center Kiva.
